Pricing

A continuous scale, not isolated tiers: the price depends on what your project actually needs to carry, from a showcase site to a regulated platform.

What determines the price

The price depends on the number of "business capabilities" in your project — a coherent, self-contained domain, like booking, payment, or messaging. The more a project has, the more business logic there is to build, test, and maintain over time. That number determines the tier, never the time it takes to write it.

What pushes a project up a tier

A project moves up a tier as soon as it involves any of these:

Not sure where you fit?

Let's talk

The tier depends on the number of business capabilities in your project — not always obvious to gauge on your own. The assistant below helps you build a first estimate.

Pre-seed / seed startups

Startup & equity

Expenses + equity

symbolic day rate, rest in equity

For pre-seed/seed startups with a legal structure able to issue equity, I can get involved as a technical partner: compensation mainly in equity, topped up with a symbolic day rate covering my real expenses.

  • Symbolic day rate covering real expenses (travel, tools, infrastructure)
  • Equity discussed case by case, depending on the project and its stage
  • Reserved for legal structures able to issue equity

How a quote breaks down

Every quote breaks down into three blocks. Knowing this upfront avoids surprises when reading the final figure.

Block A

Construction

The scale's forfait, split into milestones. Each milestone is an independent purchase order, triggered by a go/no-go — you keep control at every step.

Block B

Third-party provisioning

Your responsibility, never included in the forfait — these amounts go directly to the provider, not to me. Hosting, Stripe or Mollie, itsme, domain names.

Block C

Product coherence

10 to 15% of Block A, a dedicated milestone at the end of each major stage. Not an add-on: a guarantee. End-to-end navigation and discoverability, documentation kept in sync with the delivered code, compliance passes — the difference between "the features work" and "the product is usable."

You decide when you stop

Each business capability is an independent purchase order, with its own price shown separately — not a slice of a global forfait you'd need to see through to get your money's worth.

Every stop leaves behind a usable, deployed product. A client who stops at the third capability out of seven walks away with something that works and serves them — not half a product.

You're not buying a multi-month project, you're buying a first capability. At the end, it works and you use it. You then decide if you want the next one, and when. You can stop there, pick it back up in six months, or move straight on.

That's also what sober software means: a client who stops because what they have is enough is a good outcome, not a failure.

A schedule that depends on you, not a speed promise

I don't promise a development duration. A project's schedule depends on your capacity to decide and validate, testing loops with real users, provisioning your third-party accounts, and regulatory milestones that run on their own clock — a GDPR impact assessment, for instance, is legally required before any processing of geolocation or sensitive data, and its timeline isn't mine to set.

What I can guarantee: a cadence — one usable capability delivered every 2 to 3 weeks, validated with you before moving on to the next.

Derived offer — an already-deployed platform, adapted to your industry

€8,000 – €16,000

Business application tier (P2)

Some capabilities already exist, tested and in production. Rather than starting from zero, you start from an already-deployed base that I adapt to your market and your brand. This isn't discounted custom work: it's a product with its own price.

Delivered in 3 to 6 weeks

Mind the starting license: DernièreChance is MIT, with no particular obligation on your adaptation. KoproGo is AGPL-3.0 (network copyleft) — an adaptation exposed online may require publishing your own changes. This gets clarified together before starting.

For more specific projects, I build on a reusable technical core that I extend, project after project, with business capabilities released back as open source.

100% proprietary development

You keep full exclusive ownership of the delivered code — nothing is published.

New capability, released as open source

About a 30% discount, in recognition of a contribution to the ecosystem: the newly created business capability becomes reusable for future projects (MIT license). Only your specific configuration stays private.
