MVP shipped: DernièreChance, the anti-food-waste platform built from scratch
The idea: a local shop (bakery, greengrocer, butcher, florist...) publishes a marked-down basket of unsold goods in 30 seconds. A nearby consumer spots it via geolocation, reserves it, and gets a code to show in store. Zero waste, zero friction.
What's in production today
- Rust backend (Actix-web, hexagonal architecture) + PostgreSQL
- Astro/Svelte frontend, mobile-first PWA, with a geolocated map and list view
- Separate authentication for merchant / consumer / admin (JWT)
- Photo upload straight from the phone (MinIO/S3 storage), merchant logo
- Lightweight admin backoffice with real-time stats
- End-to-end test suite (Playwright, video above) that replays the full journey: merchant sign-up → publishing → reservation → pickup → admin cleanup
- Full CI/CD (GitHub Actions → GHCR), automatic GitOps deployment
- Documented n8n workflow for email notifications on key actions, ready to use
- The entire Docker infrastructure (dev + prod), README and documentation so the project can be picked up without me
Why it's MIT licensed
All of it is published under an MIT license: any business can take the code, adapt it to their market and launch commercially with it, no permission needed. It isn't meant to stay a demo — it's meant to be useful to others.
That's exactly the spirit of the Foyer method: sober software that stands on its own, built to be picked up without me.
